Mary Lou Ihde, 79, Monona, Iowa, died Sunday, October 4, 2009, at Park Centre, Newton, Iowa. Mary Louise Gladys was born on October 24, 1929, Giard, Iowa, to Arthur and Lucille (Bruns) Wagner. Mary Lou graduated from Farmersburg High School, Farmersburg, where she was active on the girl’s basketball team.

Mary Lou was united in marriage to Myron Ihde on October 28th, 1947, at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. They would celebrate their 62nd anniversary this month. Three children, Dennis, Wayne and Deanna, were born to this union.

Mary Lou collected clocks and elephants and treasured family heirlooms and pictures. While she loved her home, she also loved to travel with highlights being a trip to Germany with her husband and parents, and traveling through the United States.

She loved poems, dancing, gardening and flowers. Mary Lou was known for her crocheting which included The Lord’s Prayer. She was also known for her wonderful cooking and baking, especially her home made cinnamon rolls. Above all, her family was her focus.

Survivors include her husband, Myron Ihde, Elkader; three children, Dennis (Jeanne) Ihde, Bailey, CO, Wayne (Barbara) Ihde, Boulder, CO, Deanna Ihde, Newton; two grandchildren, Joanna Ihde, Galesburg, IL, James Allen (Bianka) Ihde, Denver, CO; four great-grandchildren, Hope, Brandon, Stryder and Zoe, with Baby Ihde expected soon; her mother, Lucille Wagner, Elkader; her siblings, Donald (Shirley) Wagner, Farmersburg, Delores Klingman, Volga, Roger (Alice) Wagner, Dubuque, JoAnn (Lloyd) Scherf, Harpers Ferry, David (Liz) Wagner, Elkader; brother-in-law, Jerome Schultz, Sun Lakes, AZ and a host of many other family and friends.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Wagner; three siblings, Karl and Jean Wagner and Elaine Schultz and one brother-in-law, LeRoy Klingman.
