The March to Putting the Trees Online

I've learned a lot since February. The cost of maintaining a website online is more than I thought. The maintenance of a site runs from $50 to $100 per year, depending on the options. The maintenance is from the company you buy your website name from. You also have to pay from 2 to 5 years in advance. This may not be too expensive. I just don't know right now.

Another alternative is MyFamily.com. This website has hundreds of family trees on it. Any member of a given family can upload anything they want. Old or new photos, Documents, videos, recipes, anything. It automatically sends out a message when something has been added. The cost is either free or $29.95 a year. I would go for the $29.95, it has more options. They also have a $130 option but it's not needed for our tree. It also maintains a current calender for events for the family, birthdays, anniversary, or things you would like the other members to know.

MyFamily is password protected with each member having their own password. There is also a profile page for each member that you update yourself.

For the lone website, I would have to buy another software program, $30. And you, as members would not be able to update anything. Please let me know how you feel about this.
