Lucille Mary Louise, daughter of William and Emma (Glawe) Bruns was born on April 11, 1909, at Garnavillo, IA. She died Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at the Elkader Care Center, Elkader, IA. She was baptized by Rev. Brown at Garnavillo. At the age of three, the family moved to Monona. She received her religious instruction at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. Lucille was confirmed September 9, 1924, at St. Paul by Rev. H. Daugs. She attended school in Monona.
Lucille married Arthur Wagner July 14, 1927. They lived around and in the Farmersburg area all of their lives. Nine children were born to this union.
Lucille was a member of Ladies Aid, President of Mission Circle, member of ALCW, taught bible school for many years, Vice President of ALCW of St. Johns, member of the study club, 4-H leader, cook at the Farmersburg school and custodian of St. John’s Lutheran for many years.
Lucille enjoyed her garden, playing cards, and traveling, crocheting and spending time with friends. She especially loved her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are Donald (Shirley) Wagner of Farmersburg, Dolores Klingman of Volga, Roger (Alice) Wagner of Dubuque, JoAnn (Lloyd) Scherf of Harpers Ferry, David (Liz) Wagner of Elkader; son-in-law, Jerome Schultz of Arizona; twenty-five grandchildren; forty nine great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren; one brother Ed (Maude) Bruns; two sisters, Annes Mohr and Gwendolyn Meyer; two sisters-in-law Elizabeth Bruns and Emma Jean (Herb) Pfeffner, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur in 1965; infant son Karl, infant daughter Jean, daughter Elaine Schultz; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Myron Ihde; son-in-law Lee Roy Klingman; daughter-in-law Sherri Wagner; two grandsons, Steven Wagner and Randy Klingman; two sisters Gladys Dietrich and Dorothy Bruns; four brothers, Herbert, William, Norbert and Everette Bruns
